MY SHEPHERD

(By: MARY E. ADAMS)

I saw His feet and felt His hands, but his face I could not see. For He was tall, and I was not---only barely to His knees.

A staff of wood and the rod He held, the frightening predators would see. As it dragged along each step He took,it gave me security.

My Shepherd, my Shepherd! oh where would I be?...were it not for your caring for little tiny me?

His voice I learned as I followed Him, never fooled by others nearby. For I knew when He spoke I could trust His words and would never need to ask why. No journey so long was ever more than the shepherd knew I'd endure. And there I'd eat in pastures so green, to drink of waters so clean and pure.

My Shepherd, my Shepherd! oh where would I be?...were it not for your caring for little tiny me?

At night I lay down under a heaven of stars but sometimes when storms came our way,It was then He took us to shelter nearby  where in safety we waited for day. There were times I fell and could not get up though I struggled and fought every fear. When I cried, He heard, and ran to my side...then wiped away all of my tears.

My Shepherd, my Shepherd! oh where would I be? were it not for your caring for little tiny me?

His presence was comfort--just to know He was there, let me leap with great joy and glee. Yet I once assumed I could wander away where were dangers my eyes could not see. But counting the flock as evening came by, He ushered His sheep to the fold.Seeing me missing, He searched through the night and found me left out in the cold.

My Shepherd, my Shepherd! oh where would I be?...were it not for your caring for little tiny me?

Should you wonder at troubles that don't go away---Take a moment to look toward the hills...It is there all who come find the Good Shepherd there and His sheep grazing safely still.Don't wander away-- alone on your own,Where wolves see an easy meal...Make sure you're there when He numbers His flock, and where thieves can't rob and steal.

My Shepherd, my Shepherd! oh where would I be?...were it not for your caring for little tiny me?

I am not just a lamb among thousands of sheep---everyone looking the same.My Shepherd is watchful to care for us all and give to each one new name.Content I am, and full of great joy once I found His faithfulness true Only goodness and mercy follow me now,Truly all things now are new!

My Shepherd, my Shepherd! oh where would I be?...were it not for your caring for little tiny me?

The money and assets we accumulate, the fame and power we've attained or seek to attain - all of the things of this nature will one day pass away, but those lives of others we impact for Jesus Christ will last for eternity, and we will be rewarded for the part we helped play by impacting those lives ... for eternity.
