GOD REMOVED A BLOCKAGE FROM MY HEART

(By: Rev. Dennis L. Walker)

In 1984, I was pastoring a church congregation in Dodson, Louisiana. One Sunday after Church School, I decided to visit the sick at a local hospital 12 miles north of my hometown. While there, I asked the nurse to check my blood pressure. The nurse checked it and it was registering over 104 (the lower reading).

Several days later, I felt soreness around my heart. I went to the V. A. Hospital in Pineville, Louisiana, which was about 60 miles from my home. After checking in at the hospital, a doctor had some of his staff examine me.

After all the tests were concluded and compiled, a doctor called me to his office to give me the results. He asked me if I wanted to sit, I said, 'No!' The doctor told me that I had a (number 2) blockage in my heart. When he told me that, I felt as if all of my strength and energy drained out of me, from the top of my head down through out the bottom of my feet. At the moment, I began to dwell on the fact that I was a Christian and that God was with me; instantly I began to feel my strength coming back to me, starting at the bottom of my feet and coming back up. I was spiritually lifted up by God and regained all my energy. The doctor told me to return in about two weeks and to avoid stress. My main concern was not to get too excited or upset about anything.

About 12:30 AM that morning, the Holy Spirit directed me to go up to the church house and pray. As I entered the door of the church, I did not turn the lights on because I wanted the building to be in complete darkness and silent. As I walked within about six feet of the altar, I heard three hard knocks on the wood pews. The knocks sounded like someone with a hammer was hitting the pews. I stopped and looked over to my right where the sound seemed to be coming from. It didn't frighten me because I had the Holy Spirit within me. I continued on toward the altar. As I approached it, I knelt down in front of it and began to pray to my Father God. I opened up to Him in faith, and asking Him to heal me and bless me with other blessings.

When I completed my prayer, I got up and wiped the tears from my eyes and turned to walk out. When I approached the area where I heard the three hard knocks, I heard the same three knocks as before; I stopped and looked to my left and walked out and locked the building.

Later at a seminary class close by, I told this testimony to some of my fellow Christian Ministers. One elder pastor told me that God had healed me after the third knock, when I was coming out of the church. He told me that the three knocks, represented the three witnesses here on earth, which is found in the book of 1 John 5: 6 - 8: (6) This is he that come by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the spirit that bearish witness, because the Spirit is truth. (7) For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. (8) And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. This pastor also told me that the water and the blood were in me, and that the Spirit made the six knocks on the hardwood pews.

When this pastor told me this, I fully agreed and I felt encouraged to concentrate on what had happened. I concluded that the three knocks also could have represented the trinity: God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The first three were a witness to assure me that they were with me and the final three knocks healed me like the pastor had told me.

Two weeks had passed and I returned back to the V. A. Hospital for several additional tests and examinations. I was able to walk and run on the treadmill at full speed. I wore a halter monitor for 24 hours and completed other tests. After they compiled all the test results, a doctor came to my room with the results. I asked him if I could jog again and he said yes, and that there was nothing wrong with me; and he said I could do anything I wanted to do. Then I asked the doctor why I had so much soreness around my heart? He said it could have been because of muscle spasms. In other words, they did not find anything wrong with my heart or me.

When the doctor left the room, I began to pray and thank God for what He had done by healing me. He had healed me just like the elder pastor at the seminary told me. After I finished praying and thanking God for healing and blessing me, the left side of my upper chest area began to quiver and vibrate. I put my right hand on that area to try to stop the quivering and vibrating but it did not stop. It did eventually stop on its own. I knew then that God was still in control; and He allowed me to witness His presence and His awesome healing powers.

NOTE: The results of this blessing truly improved and strengthened my faith in the healing power of our Lord God. It also helps my ministry in witnessing to other believers and nonbelievers.
