Ken Own lived in the back of a bar until age five. Was it any wonder that he fell in love with alcohol at such a young age? His older brother was the one who caused the family to think more about God, but when Ken went to church, he didn't see anything different about the people in the church than he did the bars. In fact, many of the people he saw in church he saw at the bars as well! But his older brother died, and that triggered a string of events that brought a brawler and and a hard core drinker to get right with his maker, because he knew time was running out.
An accident happened that literally buried Ken under several feet of dirt. It was out of this accident that he grew closer with God, and discovered that religion will kill a person, but relationship with God is what brings life!

Emilio Piontes needed to be accepted for who he was. Moving from Venezuela to Chicago, Illinois at a young age, the language barrier and cultural shock he experienced found him even more needy than ever to find some way to be accepted.
He seemed to find acceptance in street gangs, and so in his teenage years, being in a street gang not only filled his need for acceptance, the gang world was also his identify.

Fred Spica took an overdose of drugs and died. He left his body, and from above, watched the doctors work frantically on him to try to revive him. Fred never felt so happy and so free. Amazingly, it should have killed him, but he escaped the tragic fall being paralyzed from his upper chest down. After rehab, it was in his heart to put a big white cross on his property overlooking Grand River, next to Grand Valley State University, for the glory of the Lord. (You can see the cross from M-45 bridge if you look way down the river). When you boat along that stretch of property, now you will know how the cross came about.
Perfecto Brown considered himself to be a professional thief. He took great pride in it. However, he spent many years in prison for his crimes. In prison, he was amazed at how cheap life is. People will kill others for almost nothing, he discovered.
