Lori Shampo at one time was the Women's World Champion Pool Player.  Pool was something she could do very well.  However, there were some deep wounds in her heart stemming all the way back to her early childhood that put a wedge between her and God.  That wedge opened the door wide open for rebellion to take over, which then made her susceptible to alcohol and drug abuse.

Never having had much love growing up, especially from her father who was locked up in prison when Lori was age four, she also had a hole in her heart with the need to be loved.  Lori prayed often that God would bring her father home, and eventually her father did come home.  Unfortunately, however, he began to drink heavily and terrorize the family.

It was during that time that she grew angry with God ' blaming Him for allowing her father to behave the way he was behaving.  Her perception and understanding of God became greatly distorted, sadly, and like so many youth lacking quality love from either a mother or father or both, she became very vulnerable to male attention and substance abuse to try to deaden her pain.

About age 16 Lori began to drink and take drugs, and she became pregnant.  That was her first abortion, of more to follow, regrettably.

During her years of high school, one thing burned inside her.  She wanted her father to be proud of her.  Thus she played different sports with the solitary purpose in mind: to gain some much needed acceptance ' approval - from her father.  However, it never came to the degree she hoped it would.

Somewhere in those painful years of her growing up, she began to mistrust people.  In mistrusting them, she also began to use them, when it served a purpose to give her what she wanted.

After she got pregnant, she quit school and began to occupy her time playing pool.  She worked hard at being good at it ' playing pool 8 ' 16 hours a day.  In spending so much time playing pool, she discovered that she could forget about the pain inside her because she had to concentrate so hard at winning at pool.

At age 21 she was ranked number One female pool player in the world.  Lori had felt that if she could attain that ranking, she would be happier.  Once obtaining that title, she found out she was still miserable inside.  After that she starting using the needle, and within about five months, she was broke due to her heron addiction.

Around age 27, she had lost everything, and found herself working as a hooker in the streets of Detroit.  Walking the cold streets for a trick, all hope was gone.  She was certain she would somehow end up dying on one of those cold, lonely streets, trying come up with enough money to buy more drugs to help her escape from her pain and hopelessness.

Through these challenging times, Lori began to examine Christianity closely, but somehow things just didn't click for her ... not at first anyway.  Eventually she was able to surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and how God worked in her life after that ... we'll let you discover for yourself as you watch her precious testimony.

As you view further on in her testimony, you'll hear Lori share how pool is no longer her identity, but that the LORD JESUS has become her identity.  You may not be able to fully appreciate this incredible victory when she shares it, and if not, we highly encourage you to click on the following link for some understanding:

This testimony was filmed in 1992.  (It was filmed on a used pawn shop camera that was going on the blink, hence the reason why the picture jumps at time).  Some years later, Lori passed into glory, and now plays pool in heaven with her heavenly Father.

Interestingly, Lori's only son, Chris, was two years old at the time she was videotaped, and he was too young to remember the event.  Near the end of her testimony, she proudly shows him off on camera.  However, Chris never saw this testimony video until 2008, nor did he know it even existed, until he was doing an Internet search and came across the video tape on the Precious Testimonies website.  To fully appreciate a little of what this means, you need to watch the entire testimony!

Lori's video testimony:  Part 1  Part 2

Dear Reader - are you at peace with God?  If not, you can be.  Do you know what awaits you when you die?  You can have the assurance from the Holy Spirit that heaven will be your home, if you would like to be certain.  Either Jesus Christ died for yours sins, or He didn't (He did!).  Are you prepared to stand before God on the Judgment Day and tell Him that you didn't need the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the Cross to cover your sins?  We plead with you ... please don't make such a tragic mistake.

To be at peace with God; to make certain heaven will be your home for eternity; to make certain that you are in right-standing with God right now ... please click here to help understand the importance of being reconciled to God.  What you do about being reconciled to God will determine where you will spend eternity, precious one.  Your decision to be reconciled to God is the most important decision you'll ever make in this life.
