HONEY

By: Oliver John Calvert

 INTRODUCTION

From what is written in the Word of God, we know many things about the realm of Eternity while other aspects of Heaven and Heavenly beings remain cloaked in mystery.

We do know that on several occasions throughout our history the Creator has chosen as his operative on Earth an animal, such as ... a mule, a raven, a rooster, a whale and a donkey.

But who are these unsung agents of God?  Where do they come from?  Are the white horses of Revelation even now quartered in the stables of Heaven, awaiting the Master’s cue to enter our dimension?

How did the Lord happen to accomplish so much in our world through animals?

Well, perhaps it happened this way...

CHAPTER THREE

Honey stood before the large, eastern gate, wondering what to do next, when a still, small voice in his heart spoke to him!  Hello, Honey.  I’ve been waiting for you.  Won’t you come in?

“Lord!” the word sprang from his heart.

Yes, Honey, it is I.  Come in, now.  We have much to talk about.

“Yes, Lord!”

The sound of that voice was so tender and sweet and full of power, Honey knew instantly he had no reason to be nervous.  Bubbling with joy at finally getting to meet his Lord Creator, Honey bounded up the steps, through the gate, across the courtyard and into the Temple.  At the entrance to the Holy of Holies, he paused.  Reverential awe engulfed him as rays of holiness pierced the door, enveloping him in purity and love.

Open the door slowly and enter with your eyes closed and your face to the ground, said the Lord to Honey’s heart.

Honey tried to obey but as he entered he fell instantly to his knees.  The glory of the Lord was so intense that Honey felt swept away, completely helpless and weak.  His mind was bombarded by waves of power, his senses overloaded with holiness, purity and truth.  But wrapped around and through it all was the most overwhelming love in the universe.  Several times Honey tried to get up but could not keep his balance.  “Lord!” he cried, “I cannot stand in your presence; help me!”

That is true, came the gentle reply, and you have passed your first test.  There is no pride in you—you are pure. With that, the light and power rolling in waves from the Throne receded and a much-relieved little pony was lifted to his feet.

With new reverence, Honey raised misty eyes to the Throne of God.  Sitting upon it was the Lord Almighty, majestic and regal.  His robe was snow white and its train seemed to fill the Holy of Holies.  His face was a blaze of glory so intense that Honey could not make out his features.  Flying about the Throne were several transparent angels with six wings crying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Hosts; the whole Earth is full of his glory!”

Honey noticed a robed figure sitting at God’s right hand and the Lord spoke again, This is my Son.  He is the Prince of Glory and my spoken Word to creation. With that, the figure rose and approached the wondering little pony.

His face was kind, his hair, white as a cloud, his eyes, like pools of fire.  He spoke out loud to Honey in a voice that sounded like a waterfall.  Hello, Honey.  My name is Jesus.  Welcome to Heavenly Places.  I know everything here is strange and new to you, but it won’t be long until you fit right in and feel at home.  The Prince paused for a moment then reached out and gently stroked Honey’s mane and cheek.  The touch of his hand made Honey warm all over and convinced him that he and the Prince would always be the very best of friends.

You have been created for a very special reason, he continued, You will be required to carry out assignments given to you by the Father, on Earth, below.  Sometimes, we will work together.  Sometimes, you will work with the angels.  Sometimes, you will have to work alone.  It is extremely important for you to follow instructions to the letter, keeping all information the Father gives you concerning Earth, confidential.  The only ones you will be permitted to discuss your missions with are your guardian angel and the archangels, Michael and Gabriel, as they will be involved as well.

“Oh, I will keep the secret, Prince Jesus, I will!” Honey breathed.

The Father spoke again in Honey’s heart.  Because of the nature of your work, you have been given the gift of speech; however, it will not be necessary for Jesus or Myself to use speech to speak to you, as we can speak to your heart and hear your thoughts.

Honey, said the Prince in measured tones, your tasks on Earth will not always be easy or pleasant, but there are certain rewards for obedience.”  Honey nodded his understanding.

You may go now, and meditate on this: The things you do and say on Earth will change the course of history forever.  We trust you and believe you will do an excellent job.  And, Honey, from now on, no matter where you are in Heaven or on Earth, I will always be with you.  If you trust me, you will always hear my voice in your heart.

“Yes, Lord,” came the pony’s meek response, as he backed out of the throne room.  No one instructed him to, but it seemed only natural to Honey to bow before turning to leave...as well as a horse can bow, anyway.

Descending the steps of the temple, Honey noticed a change in the color of his coat.  It had gotten several shades lighter!  And, (was he imagining it?) his legs seemed just the slightest bit longer!  Puzzled, he decided to ask the Lord about it.  “Lord?”

Yes, Honey.

“Lord, what’s happening to me?”

You have passed your first test, and there are certain rewards for obedience.

Honey was a little unclear on just how he had passed a test by falling down a lot, but he knew the Lord was always right, so, picking his way through the heart of the city, the medium-honey colored pony made his way home, greeting angelic beings along the way with a cheery, “Hello!”

Nearing the mansion district, Honey noticed a flurry of building activity around one of the palatial estates.  Edging closer, he asked one of the worker angels the reason for the early completion, “Didn’t Gabriel say the guests of honor wouldn’t be here for quite some time?”

“Change of plans—early arrival on the way—fellow named, Enoch,” the angel answered in a rush, as he hurried inside to install a platinum concert harp in the parlor.

A man? ... There would be a man in Heavenly Places?  Honey turned this over in his mind.  Why only one man?  Weren’t there many men on Earth?  As he trotted West toward the stables, it occurred to him that Gabriel was certainly right.  The Great I Am didn’t seem to ever slow down when it came to surprises!

“Perhaps,” he thought, “This Enoch-man can tell me something about Earth before my first assignment.”  But there would be no time for that.  Oh, no ... not with the God of surprises.

Precious Testimonies Staff Note:   You have been reading a chapter from the book manuscript:  HONEY.  There are 27 short chapters total to this book.  Oliver John wrote it primarily for children -- to help them understand better, in an interesting - creative way, what God fully accomplished through Jesus Christ's death, burial, and resurrection.  In short, it is a life-like portrait of the Gospel Message presented in a way that only the Holy Spirit could inspire.  Oliver John Calvert is trusting God for a publisher to publish this book, and if you know of one that would like to read the entire manuscript for possible publication, Oliver John can be contacted by this email address:  jh35@sbcglobal.net

I personally have read the entire "HONEY" manuscript, and I'm of the strong opinion it would make an excellent book for not only youth, but for people of all ages.

Oliver John has written a sequel to his "HONEY" book, in case a publisher might want to be aware of that as well.
