Jesus Did It!
By: Norman W. Rasmussen
you feel hopeless right now? So
hopeless, in fact, that you believe God isn’t concerned about how much pain
you are feeling? If you’re not currently connected to the Lord Jesus Christ,
we would highly encourage you to do so. The
Lord Jesus Christ not only is the hope giver … He is hope.
However, if you are
a believer on the Lord Jesus Christ, (though you may feel a little far away from
Him at the moment), and hopelessness has gripped you, you
need to be reminded that hopelessness is a work of the devil.
Root causes can be physiological … nutrition deficiencies, or chemical
imbalances (often caused from nutritional imbalances) … and medical attention
needs to be sought.
The problem with
going to the medical/nutritional professionals to solve all of our
hopelessness comes in if the professionals we receive advice from fails to
realize that “hopelessness” is a spiritual weapon used by the devil to get
us to feel like God know longer “cares” … which then progresses to
thoughts of … “What’s the reason to go on living?”
truth is, you can be physiologically and nutritionally healthy and still be
trapped into a state of hopelessness by the devil, and if that happens to be
your situation right now, only spiritual medicine is going to heal your
an emotional and spiritual cancer. It
is so lethal that suicide can begin to be the only thing occupying your thoughts
if you don’t let The Great Physician (Jesus) heal you of it.
In it’s milder forms, it can trap you into chemical addictions of all
kinds, eating disorders, sleep disorders, breakdown of your immune system to
protect you from viruses … a whole list of harmful things can be given that
comes out of remaining in a state of hopelessness for very long.
If you were to
study the Old and New Testament Bible solely as if it was a “Warfare Manual
For The Survival Of Humanity,” (which it is, among other things), would
you be surprised that God is telling us something so critically important for
our emotional and spiritual health that maybe we have just glossed over it as
insignificant and important? The following portion of scripture found in 1 Peter 5:7 is
possibly the most powerful weapon God has given us to fight the devil’s
weapon of hopelessness:
all your care upon Him
(God), for He cares for you.”
This promise from
God’s Word may very well be in direct conflict to what you are feeling right
now. Maybe you are thinking to yourself,
‘God cares for me?!
Well if He cares so much for me, why is He allowing me to be so
That is a very
logical and normal question to ask. Most
all of us have been in that frame of mind at one time or the other.
But what we may have failed to do is read one scripture verse further
after 1 Peter 5:7. It reads:
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary
the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Resist him, steadfast in the faith, know that the same sufferings
are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.”
Here’s where some people stop seeking God to deliver them of their hopelessness. They have believed that either the devil isn’t real, or if he might be real, God certainly wouldn’t allow the devil to have any influence over them, which both are a lie. God allows a lot of suffering in our lives that He doesn't purposely will to happen. In fact, He has warned us in scripture that the more Godly we purpose to be, the more we will suffer down here on earth for it. He assumes we realize "more intense suffering" is simply persecution from the devil, which often times is in the emotional realm.
teaches that the devil devours our hope when we don’t believe he’s real, or
that God wouldn’t allow the devil to have any influence on them.
On the other hand, for those who are able to hear God screaming across
the earth: “Hey!
Wake up people! You
have a real enemy who has power to make your life a living hell if you don’t
learn to spot his attacks against you and take appropriate action to send him
fleeing before he can inflict more serious harm! Quit believing your enemy's
lies, and begin to stand on the promises I have given you in My Word, and the
instructions I have given you in my Word to wage effective, spiritual
Precious one …
God wants to set you free from your hopelessness right now … but you must not
allow the thoughts inside your mind tell you that God can not, or will not,
set you free from your hopelessness. Those
thoughts have been planted there by the devil himself, and you have grace from
God at this very moment to say to yourself out loud:
“I refuse to
be sucked into this pit of despair and hopelessness any more!
Lord, I know you have ALL power over the devil, and I’m once again
choosing to put my trust in you to lead me out of this hopelessness.
You said in 1 Peter 5:7 that I can cast this very care on you, and I’m
doing it right NOW. I’m handing
you my hopelessness, Lord, because you say I can, and your promise is that ‘You
care for me.’ Just knowing
that you care for me gives me hope once again.’”
Now precious one, obtain yourself a New Testament bible if you don't have one handy. Begin to read the first four books of the Bible. Meditate on the words Jesus spoke. In those four books alone, Jesus promised so many things to His followers that you can't help but have your hope restored and faith will once again begin to burst forth like a rose bush in spring that was under the winter snow for months. The book of Psalms is also full of promises that God desires for us to grab hold of and not let go of.
When you are ready, go to Ephesians 6:10, and begin reading the passages that follow. God is telling us that we are in a spiritual battle for our emotional and spiritual well-being, and here He gives us instructions in how to fight that battle, otherwise we are going to be wounded and crippled from the devil's attacks, if we don’t learn how and when to “resist him” when it’s necessary, which is usually on a daily basis.
You can click on to this link Here for a more in-depth understanding of what God is talking about in Ephesians 6: 10-18 as well, to assist you in expanding your knowledge and insight into affectively using the weapons God has given us to remain victorious over the devil's attacks against us.
Precious one, in
closing, please allow us to leave you with this nugget of spiritual insight in
having your hope restored:
It is our human nature to want to constantly think: “God, WHY are
you allowing this to happen in my life?” If we’ll be wise enough to rephrase that thought, and begin
asking it this way, God will begin to work in your life unlike anything
you might be able to imagine right now:
And always remember -- God may be wanting us to inquire of Him something else besides just waging effective spiritual warfare in our time of suffering, and so we always want to be asking Him this: "Lord, WHAT are you trying to teach me through this time of trial? Help me to hear clearly anything I'm to learn, and the desire to do something about it once you do."
Hopelessness is one of the devil's most effective weapons to hold us faithless and paralyzed spiritually. Hopelessness is not from God. It never was, and it never will be. God desires that we come to fully realize that, and when hopelessness taps on our shoulder ... learn to send it fleeing quickly so it gains no foothold in us. There are far too many more important things to be spending out time and energy on than constantly battling hopelessness.
