Jesus Did It!

Video Commentary

By: Norm Rasmussen

Everything you do is being monitored by God.  Everything you do is being stored in God’s memory.  Not one thing you do goes unnoticed by God.  God loves you so much that He wants every reason He can to bless you through eternity for what you do.

Purposing to honor God is the wisest decision you can make every moment of your existence.  Being lazy or apathetic about honoring God is very unwise.

When you purpose to honor God, you are sowing a blessing into God.  If we are parents, don’t we love to be honored by our children?  Sure we do.  If we are married, don’t we love to be honored by our spouse?  Most certainly.  At our place of employment, don’t we delight in being honored by our boss for doing a good job?  Surely.  If I’m a teacher, don’t I love to be honored by my students?  If I’m a student, don’t I love to be honored by my teacher?  We could come up with numerous examples of our heart’s desire to be honored by others.  Honor is something we all can desire earnestly, yet life teaches us that being honored is very difficult to come by and a very costly prize to lay hold of.  Life teaches us that in most cases, being honored requires very hard work before it comes our way in genuine sincerity.  Honor is a treasure whose truth worth is extremely difficult to place a value on, because it can be so priceless.

Do you want God to honor you when you stand before Him and give an account of your life here on earth?  Sorry to offend you if this shoe fits, but you’re the biggest fool God ever created if you don’t care whether God honors you or not.   Of course we all want God to honor us on the Judgment Day.  God created us to want to be honored by others … and by Him.  It’s a very normal part of living.   So don’t put any guilt trip on yourself for wanting to be honored by others, please.

Yet here is a very sobering reminder, in case you maybe haven’t given it much thoughlately.  To be honored by God, you must first purpose to honor Him!  The law of sowing and reaping applies.  You don’t get honor from God just because you would like to be honored by Him.  The reality is … you have to work hard for it.  God gives no one honor just because they would like to receive it.  It must be earned.  How does one intelligently and wisely work to receive it?  By making their number one reason for living – their number one reason for existing – to honor God.  To get honor from God, we must sow honor into God first.  It can’t work any other way.

How then do we intelligently and wisely sow honor into God?  Here is a spiritual law that governs the principle.  The measure that we meet, will be measured back to us.  The degree of honor that we sow, will be the degree of honor we will reap.  The quality of honor that we sow into God, in other words, will be the quality of honor God will sow back into us.

Here is where this spiritual law of sowing and reaping is found in THE Book of eternal, spiritual Law authored by none other than God:

“Judge not, that you be not judged.  For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the same measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”  -- Matthew 7:1-2 (NKJV)

“For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light.  If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.

And he said to them, “Take heed what you hear.  With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given.  For whoever has, to him more will be given; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.”  -- Mark 4:22-25 (NKJV)

“But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Highest.  For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.

Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.  Judge not, and you shall not be judged.  Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned.  Forgive, and you will be forgiven.  Give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom.  For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”  -- Luke 6:35-38 (NKJV)

Sowing honor into God requires only one thing: Decision.  It requires a decision on our part.  It doesn’t require money – it doesn’t require hardly any knowledge of the Bible, though it certainly helps!  All that is required is determination and wisdom.

My precious wife, Kathleen, and I had the privilege of going into Carson City Correctional facility last evening (April 22, 2006) with Al Bolhuis, who oversaw the Alpha Prison Ministry there at that time.  Brother Al gave me the privilege of being able to sow honor into God by seeking to speak to the brothers what I believed God wanted me to sow into their lives.  The topic was on laying up eternal rewards in heaven, as Jesus tells us to do in the Book of THE Law.  Kathleen sang to the brothers the song, “Thank You” – the popular song sung by Ray Boltz about rewards in heaven, to start the evening out right to get the brothers to start thinking about what heaven holds for those who get there.

I believe by unction of the Holy Spirit, I shared this with the precious brothers.  “You have every opportunity to lay up eternal rewards for yourself right here in this prison setting as anyone outside of this prison has.   If you somehow think that you must first be let out of prison to sow maximized rewards for yourself in heaven … you are deceived.  Wherever we are on this planet at any given day … God is giving us maximized opportunity to lay up eternal rewards for ourselves.  How so?  By seeking Him for wisdom in how we can sow blessing into the lives of those around us.”

What if no one is around us to sow blessing into?  We have the instrument of prayer.  Prayer holds no barriers.  There is always a way to sow blessing into someone’s life by our unselfish prayers.  And there is a means by which we can sow honor to God if we are in total isolation.  We can do that with thanksgiving in our heart and on our lips.  We can do that by praising him in our mind and with our lips.  Praising God is sowing honor to God.  The more you honor God by praising Him with an attitude of genuine appreciation … God will see to it that you will somehow be honored by Him on the Judgment Day.

Even better … God most likely will see to it that you will somehow receive token blessings of honor from Him prior to the Judgment Day!  Every day essentially is a type of Judgment Day, if you think about it.  The Judge of all creation is the One who gives us a sound enough mind to make the decision each and every morning when we wake up: ‘I purpose to honor God in everything I think, say and do.  That is my primary purpose – my number one reason for living this day.  Lord – show me how best I can do that.’

Without us making a conscientious decision to make that our daily, number one purpose … it most likely won’t happen.  It has to become our burning, consuming desire to sow honor into God.  It takes hard work.  It takes dogged determination on our part … because it is such an unnatural thing for us selfish humans to want to do.

Our addiction to selfishness wants all the rewards of heaven and all the rewards we can get here in this life – right now – without having to do a thing for them.  But what God has written in the Book of THE Law clearly tells us it doesn’t work that way.  We must first sow blessing before we can expect to receive blessing.  We must first sow honor to others before we can expect to be honored.  We must first purpose to honor God before He will honor us back.  We can go into denial regarding this fact, but it changes nothing.

A person can fuss and fume about whether Jesus Christ paid full penalty for their sins on the Cross of Calvary … wallowing in doubt and unbelief and possibly anger at the mere thought of it … but all one is doing is dishonoring Jesus Christ without realizing it.  That’s very sobering, and I hope you have “ears to hear” what I just said, not because I said it, but because I have full confidence the Holy Spirit backs me up on it.

It is absolutely impossible to honor God in the way in which He has decreed that He wants your honor by dishonoring the very One who created you and sustains your very life.  The Book of THE Law says that is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ, in case you’ve never heard.

Please – realize something very important.  God does not need your honor nor does He need my honor.  He has sufficient angels who sow honor unto Him, so He didn’t need to create the human race to somehow get honor that the angels may have withheld, or are withholding from Him.  If there wasn’t a sufficient number of angels to sow honor into their Creator, the Creator would simply create more angels.  Not a big deal at all for the Creator.

The Book of THE Law tells us that somewhere back in time, one-third of the angels chose to quit honoring God and decided to sow honor into Satan, and God came to the sad conclusion that they really were of no value in heaven to Him anymore, because He could not sow honor back to a creation of His that was hell-bent on sowing dishonor unto Him.

The reason God created you and I was so that we could have the highest privilege to have the very same opportunity that angels have, and that is to have a way to sow honor into something – to Someone – that has the power and the authority to give it back in a greater measure than what it was given to Him, as in “pressed down and shaken over.” Love thinks that way.

The Judge will determine when each of us leave this planet and enter the eternal, spiritual realm.  When our heart quits beating, our life ends as we’ve known it since birth.  Part of the reason why God decides to stop our heart from beating has to do with our ability and our determination to honor Him by His rulebook … The Book of THE Law … not our self-published “spiritual rulebook.”

If God sees that you have absolutely no intention of honoring Jesus Christ the rest of your life ... honoring His sinless Son who became sin for you (See: 2 Cor. 5:21) … you might just as well throw yourself a big party and convince yourself that it will be more delightful to spend eternity with those who receive greater joy dishonoring the Lord Jesus Christ than honoring Him.  There is a special place where these people conglomerate, and will get to associate with for all eternity.  It is dishonor hell.   It will be the place that the more they dishonor each other there, the more they will be dishonored.  The law of sowing and reaping applies no matter where a person is in the spirit realm.  There will be no second opportunity to honor God in that sphere, Dishonor Hell, because honor is simply not tolerated there.  It can’t possibly exist there.  There is only one place honor can exist.  That is in the sphere of God.   It is the sphere The Book of THE Law calls the Kingdom of God, and sometimes is also called the Kingdom of Heaven.  They are one and the same in regards to eternity.  It is where the God of HONOR is King and Lord.

Does the King of this heavenly sphere demand something from His Created beings that He Himself refuses/refused to show an example of, as any honorable and wise leader will do?  Nope.  Jesus Christ spoke very clearly what His purpose for existing was when He walked this planet for 33 years.  It was to honor His Father.   He knew that to receive honor, He had to sow honor.  It simply was wise obedience to the law of sowing and reaping.  Jesus Christ would have sinned the worst sin one could possibly commit against the Creator had He not purposed to honor the Creator.  Had Jesus Christ not honored God -- God the Father and God The Holy Spirit with perfect obedience to their will … they would have found God The Son to be a totally worthless being -- a totally worthless sacrifice -- to die on the Cross for the sins of humanity.  I realize this is some rather blunt language to use, but sometimes blunt language is necessary to somehow help people realize that you can’t possibly position yourself to sow maximized honor into God and walk in disobedience to Him.

Jesus Christ could have desired to receive maximized honor from God the Father and God the Holy Spirit, the angels who remained in heaven, and the saints who were in heaven up to that time … but Jesus Christ had to pay the price to earn that honor.  He had to walk in perfect obedience to God the Father’s will and God the Holy Spirit’s will … otherwise His desire to receive the honor that awaited Him in glory would never be granted Him.

You can want maximized honor from your spouse, but never get it, until you pay the price to get it.  How do you get it?  By sowing honor to your spouse first!  You can want maximized honor from your boss, but never get it, until you earn it.  You earn it by sowing honor to your boss first.  You can want maximized honor from the law, but you won’t get it by constantly breaking the law.  You must obey the law to receive honor.  You must obey your parents before you will receive any tangible honor from them.  That’s just the way things work.

Jesus tells us to purposely use our time, our talents, and our treasure to lay up eternal rewards in heaven.  (See:  Matthew 6:19-20 and Matthew 25:14-30).  That implies that you will be honored by God to get to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.   That will not happen, The Book of THE Law clearly states … unless you obey the right law to get there.  What is that right law?  By sowing honor to the One who has all power and authority to grant you maximized honor in return throughout all eternity, by first showing honor to Him (sowing) that you are truly thankful for Him taking your eternal punishment on the Cross of Calvary … or grant you your utterly foolish heart’s desire in allowing you to go be with other spirits who find greater delight in dishonoring the very Judge of whom all power and authority has been given.

Why did God create you and I?  To glorify Him, right?  Yet it is impossible to glorify our Creator and dishonor Him.  There is no higher means of glorifying our Creator than to honor Him.  There is no greater insult to God than to dishonor Him.  There is no greater folly than to believe one is glorifying God and yet honoring deception in one’s complete ignorance.  The Apostle Paul was on that course, until Jesus Christ pulled Him over while he was speeding on the Damascus highway and wrote him out a ticket.  That “ticket” cost Paul enough pain to listen to that big bad “policeman” who had the power to reward him for all eternity … or let him continue on his path of eternal deception and destruction.   Paul “meant well,” in his own mind, and most assuredly Satan and one third of the angels that got kicked out of heaven for all eternity  also “meant well” in their own minds.  Only problem was … they didn’t consult with the Judge who created them.  They didn’t give the Judge the honor He so rightly deserves by obeying His leadership.  They implemented the law of sowing and reaping alright.  They sowed dishonor to their Creator, by being selfishly rebellious to Him, and so they reaped dishonor.

Which path are you on, dear reader?  Are you on the path of honoring The Creator, or are you withholding it from Him?  What you sow … you will reap.

In hell, they have redefined the expression: “Sowing and reaping.”  They refer to it as: “Sowing and weeping.”

No one – no thing … can stop you from honoring God, this very day.  God has given you the power to make up your mind what you are going to honor, and who you will honor.   If you haven’t a clue in how to wisely go about that, the Heavenly Instruction Manuel we commonly refer to as the Holy Bible will clearly show you how to sow maximized honor to God … to reap maximized honor in return.

Here are some specific ways to honor God that pays HUGE DIVIDENDS:

This bears repeating: Obeying the New Testament honors God.  We cannot honor God if we don't LOVE God.  Jesus said, "If you love me, keep my commandments."

Trusting God honors God.  Fretting, worrying, being anxious and impatient, being angry and blaming God for one thing or another ... our fallen human nature does these things and we may not realize than when we are guilty of doing them, we are disobeying God's Word.  God wants us trusting Him.  God wants us confidently taking our concerns to Him in prayer, asking for His counsel in any given matter, and once He gives it, to FOLLOW that counsel.  God beams with joy when we chose to trust Him, especially when all is dark and seemingly hopeless in our situation.

We are admonished in Matthew 6:33 to "Seek FIRST God's Kingdom and His righteousness, and everything else as secondary priority.  Many people are confused about what this means.  There are two important facets to God's Kingdom:  1)  Soul winning   2)  Discipleship.

God is highly honored by us when we ever persist in being used of the Lord to help plant and water seeds of Truth in the lives of lost souls, to bring them to Christ, that they might be saved from their sins.  It's a big job, and there are many ways to do this.  Once a soul is saved, it becomes an even greater job in helping disciple that new convert by the guidelines of God's New Covenant Word.  The reason it can become such a hard job is because the rebellious fleshly nature in that person tends to fight against the Spirit, and Christian disciples often are some of the most stubborn "sheep" in the flock.  Satan, of course, does everything in his power to make certain of it!

Christians are to be praying regularly for those who rule over them:  "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings, and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence."  - 1 Timothy 2:1-2

Depending on what country you may live in -- if you are experiencing Christian persecution, it can always worsen if Christians in that country are not DOING 1 Timothy 2:1-2.

Outside of outright disobedience to God and His New Testament Word ... not being a thankful person can shut off God's favor on your life like little else.  Our fleshly nature is constantly desiring to figure out a way where we can get God to bless us without our having to do anything to receive that blessing.  The surest way to position yourself to motivate God to shine His favor on you, all the days of your life, is to be a thankful person.  A thankful person is one who has learned contentment with what they have; not what they don't have.  If we fail to be thankful for what we have, we may never receive God's maximized favor over our lives.  A Christian desiring to have faith to move mountains will seldom get faith of that degree until they have proven themselves to God by being thankful.

"To those who HAVE, more will be given."  Question:  To those who have WHAT?  Have a sincere attitude of thanksgiving and have made it their daily purpose to honor God in all they think, say and do.  It's not always easy to do ... but it pays eternal dividends if we do all we can to incorporate those two things with "Advancing His Matthew 6:33 Kingdom in the lives of other people, and seek after righteousness (right living with God and others)."

Do you want to turn OFF the "favor of God" light switch on your life?  You can DO that and never realize you are doing it if you aren't careful to give GOD the glory for the accomplishments in your life.  Nothing good you have came all on its own, or by just your own doing.  God has given you everything good you have, and if you question that for even one second, you may be headed down a path of frustration and unceasing discouragement.  The person who has a good grasp on the importance in acknowledging openly that it is God who has blessed them is a person who stands directly beneath the brilliant light of God's favor.   That light can grow dim quickly if WE start patting ourselves on the back for the accomplishments we are happy with.
