WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES OF CONTINUING IN "ON-GOING SIN"?

The following scripture passages are two of the most
easily misunderstood Bible passages in the entire New Testament Bible regarding
sin and/or losing one's salvation:
in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the
heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted
the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen
away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again
crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. (Hebrews 6:4-6)
if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there
no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment
and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries. (Hebrew 10:26-27)
To ACCURATELY translate and
WISELY APPLY these two scripture passages to born again Christians, one must
realize the crucial importance of applying The Rule Of Context before drawing
any major assumptions regarding what they can “seem” to be implying.
When utilizing The Rule Of
Context…one needs to determine WHO the audience IS that the author is
The audience is/was obviously primarily Jews. If it
was primarily Gentiles, the first 10 Chapters of Hebrews would
make little sense, because Gentiles had little concern about obeying
the commandments of the Law prior to becoming born again through believing on
the Jesus Christ.
Without going into a long
dissertation about explaining the Jewish ceremonial purification laws and trying
to keep the 10 commandments regarding the covering of their sins – suffice it to be that the practices of
the Old Covenant Laws never FORGAVE the sins of the Jewish people. It simply
covered them over with a degree of God’s mercy until a MORE PERFECT means could
be found to have them not just covered over…but TOTALLY FORGIVEN.
The sacrificing of
unblemished animals could NEVER move God the Father to completely FORGIVE the
sins of neither Jews (nor Gentiles) that was practiced under the Old Covenant
Law. Neither could attempts to obey the 10 commandments, because no one was able
to keep all 10 of them indefinitely. Then what purpose did they serve? It kindled God’s anger against their sins
against Him and others, but it wouldn’t kindle God’s anger indefinitely.
What kindled God’s anger
against the sin of every Jew and every Gentile (non Jews) up to this very moment
in time is a sacrifice so pure – so costly – so complete to GOD that once a
person has come to some awareness that the sacrifice we’re talking about here is
the very sacrifice of God Himself – the shedding of HIS
own innocent blood. Can we
get a glimpse of how insulting – how hurtful - it is to God if you or I
essentially try to convey to Him that HIS sacrifice on the cross means essentially
NOTHING to us once we’ve received divine revelation from the Holy Spirit? The sacrifice of God Himself is the ONLY means God has now provided Jews and
non-Jews...to have our sins totally forgiven and not held against us both now, but
more importantly, on the
Therefore, I hope the reader can gleam some clarity
of understanding that “the sin(s) there no longer remains anymore sacrifice for”
which Hebrews 10:26-27 is addressing is actually twofold:
1) Anyone going BACK to the
Old Covenant ceremonial purification laws (which may well be reinstituted in
Israel in the end times) of having one’s sins dealt with and giving themselves
completely to it again, though more likely...putting strong emphasis on trying
to obey the 10 moral commandments (works salvation)...believe that ALONE is
all that is necessary to be okay with God on the Judgment Day.
2) Blasphemy of the Holy
Spirit, as is addressed in Mark 3:28-29, which essentially means
that a person dogmatically refuses to believe that Jesus Christ WAS and IS
FULLY GOD [And maybe even take it one step further and claim
that all the supernatural feats that Jesus did while alive were not empowerment
of the Holy Spirit at all, but of Satan himself--therefore denying that Jesus
was the long promised Messiah going back all the way to Adam and Eve]...therefore concluding that Jesus had to be a false messiah--a
To this very day, there are people teaching that born
again Christians are demonically deceived, and it is THEY who are possessed of
the antichrist spirit...seeking to deceive others.
For one to dogmatically refuse to believe that Jesus Christ WAS and
IS and forever will BE God is one thing. To admit to
oneself they aren’t sure YET if Jesus WAS and fully IS God - the long promised
Messiah...the TRUE Christ...who would save people from the penalty of their sins, but are open to
the possibility...is quite another. The latter gives the Holy Spirit much
room to work in that person's life.
(Here is another writing that may bring more clarity
to the reader:
Another means to accurately
interpret the Bible is to wisely allow scripture to confirm scripture, and/or
bring clarity to what one is to believe about spiritual matters. This is called The Rule Of Unity.
Apostle Paul, the author of the book of Galatians, is also believed to be the
same author of the book of Hebrews by numerous Bible scholars. Even if not, for
the sake of argument, it is important to know that in Galatians, Paul starts out
by clearly addressing Jewish born again believers who are coming under Satan’s
deception to try to get them to MIX Old Covenant law practices (works salvation)
with New Covenant (faith salvation) of New Covenant Truth
(circumcision being one)…and maybe even deceive born again
believers that they need to exit New Covenant salvation through faith and grace in the sacrifice of God on the cross TOTALLY
and revert back to Old Covenant law keeping practices completely to please God.
My own personal belief is that Satan would rather a
Christian MIX a "faith plus works" salvation. If he can
accomplish that in the mind of a Christian, it keeps that person from loving and
appreciating God's sacrifice on the cross to the maximum, which ultimately robs
that Christian of the peace and joy that is available to them. A joyless
Christian struggles with confidence in God in prayer; the desire to witness to
the lost; the lack of desire to serve the Body of Christ, including other
things: Ultimately it leads that Christian to a loss of eternal rewards more
We Christians need to always
remind ourselves: We are not saved BY our "good works; i.e., keeping the
10 commandments + Old Covenant tithing (Of course! Must not leave 10% Old
tithing out!)". We are saved to DO "good works." BIG DIFFERENCE, but
Satan doesn't want Christians realizing that. Here's a writing to help the
reader understand this important difference:
I marvel that you are
turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a
different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and
want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven,
preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be
accursed. (Galatians 1:6-9)
Paul continues…“I do not
set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the law
[Works - emphasis mine], then
Christ died in vain.”
O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you
should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed
among you as crucified?
This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive
the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Are you so foolish? Having
begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect [the process of
ongoing-sanctification and maturity in a believer's life - emphasis mine], by the flesh? (Galatians
2:21 – 3:1-3 NKJV).
Satan was using Judaizers to try to convince Galatian
Christians that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross needed “a little
extra help.” A “little extra help that the Old Covenant law practices
[righteousness obtained by WORKS!] was required “to just make certain you’re
completely okay with God” or "maybe He'll love me a little MORE
if I go beyond just resting in faith that Jesus Christ
accomplished EVERYTHING NECESSARY for a person to be right with God" or "maybe His favor will rest
more on me if I show Him I'm trying to be more "spiritual" - such as
was the male Galatian's listening to those trying to tell them that circumcision
made them "more spiritual" - "more special; more important" to
God. (Spiritual pride in operation. Satan full well knows that when we
starting giving into the sin of spiritual pride, ["I'm more important to God
than you are"] we start
grieving the Holy Spirit, and that is NOT wise).
The book of Galatians isn’t
the only place in scripture this demonic strategy was a never-ending issue the
early Christian church had to deal with, but I want to keep this writing as
short as possible.
Satan wants new -
unknowledgeable - Christians believing something that is NOT SO when applying
Hebrews 6:4-6 and Hebrews 10:26-27 to either backslidden
Christians, and/or to Christians who are struggling with on-going sin in their
life. Satan wants to rob them of ALL hope that they can once again be restored
back in good standing with God through a restored personal relationship with
Jesus Christ that will stand on the Judgment Day. It's a tactic to try to
a Christian's relationship with Jesus that has worked well for Satan
since the early Church first started.
for those Christians struggling with on-going sin strongholds in their life …
God wants them knowing that as long as they will acknowledge to God that what
they are doing is clearly sin as the Bible states it is…and they will ask His
forgiveness…there is ALWAYS forgiveness by Him in this life, just as 1 John 1:9
The author of the book of Hebrews through inspiration
of the Holy Spirit offers this balance
to the issue of sin in a believers life:
Therefore we also, since we
are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight,
and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race
that is set before us, (Hebrews 12:1).
Reality is...it is
IMPOSSIBLE to obtain “sinless perfection” by our own efforts prior to stepping into eternity. If
obtaining “absolute total sinless perfection” by our own efforts was possible in this life…then the sacrifice
of Jesus Christ on the cross WASN’T a complete sacrifice afterall…and perhaps
we should agree with Satan, God forbid! “The sacrifice of God on the cross wasn't as
complete as a lot of people think. Some Christians think they
must do MORE than just believe and trust what He accomplished for them. They need to help God out a
little...just to be certain they're okay with Him." (Again - Satan
knows this is spiritual pride in operation. It's the most difficult sin to
spot for those operating in it). Anything Satan can do to rob God of
His glory by distorting truth of what Jesus Christ accomplished FULLY -
COMPLETELY - by His death, burial and resurrection for each and everyone of us, he'll attempt to do it.
Nevertheless, every true born again Christian is as
righteous as Jesus Christ IS - positionally
(<Click underlined: To understand). How can that possibly be? Because
Jesus gave us His righteousness on the cross and took our sin upon Himself.
For He [God the Father: emphasis mine] made Him
[God the Son: emphasis mine] who knew no sin to be sin for
us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him [Jesus Christ:
emphasis mine]. (2 Cor. 5:21)
The conclusion of the
matter? Positionally true Christians are as righteous right now as God Himself is.
It happened the moment one got truly saved - truly born again. Because that’s truth…let’s be diligent about living up to it by
God will reward us for it not only in this life,
but on the Judgment Day. And always remember: If Satan can't deceive
you into hating God (bitterness at God), he'll do everything in his power to
make certain you'll receive a LOSS of rewards on the Judgment Day. If
Satan can't be rewarded, he doesn't want YOU rewarded EITHER!
(A dying person who experiences a death-bed
salvation with Jesus Christ has NO TIME to think about
how "righteous" he/she needs to "now become" to have full assurance their sins
are forgiven by God and they will get to spend eternity in heaven with Him.
Does that mean God doesn't honor sincere death-bed conversions, then? NO - Not the God that I know!)
Let’s not make excuses for our disobedience. Let’s
get radically ruthless with strongholds of sin in our lives. True born again
Christians are given the power of the Holy Spirit to help them get victory over sin.
[But they often need to be patient]. Everyone else (non-born again folks) doesn’t have that power.
(Note: Some Christians have discovered that they don't walk in the FULL
EMPOWERMENT of the Holy Spirit to get victory over certain sin until they
persistently seek to be FILLED with the Holy Spirit. Being
filled with the Holy Spirit is something Christians need to seek God on to fully
understand, if they are wise. Here's an excellent writing on the topic:
In conclusion, I
could never tell someone that it is impossible to get right AGAIN
with Jesus Christ if they are truly sincere. God is the judge and
executioner of the eternal fate of every one of us - not me.

WHAT DO I DO!?
Here is a highly recommended
testimony to listen to about a woman who turned her back on Christianity, and
became a dedicated Satan worshipper. God eventually moved in her heart,
and she wanted out of Satanism and wanted to become a Christian again, but Satan
lied to her and convinced her it was IMPOSSIBLE. And then she heard God
tell her she had believed Satan's lie:
THE CONSEQUENCES OF CONTINUING IN "ON-GOING" SIN?

and tell Him that you didn't need
the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the Cross to have your sins forgiven and
get in right-standing with God? We plead with you ... please don't make
such a tragic mistake.
