as the coat. Neither the shoes nor the coat protect an inmate from the cold very well. Many inmates either don't know how to ask or don't feel like they should ask for financial help from their friends or family. Their needs and discomfort don't vanish though. The Bible teaches us to help a brother in need if we can. To really help, ask him specifically what you can do for him.  For example, if winter is coming, ask specifically if he needs a new coat and shoes. First, always pray about sending money or purchasing any item. Helping a loved one in prison is good, but it may be an item that God might not want for the inmate at that time in order to strengthen his faith in a certain way.
