I was neck deep in sin and filth before I met the Lord Jesus Christ. People would describe me as descent and responsible, and even though I was outwardly so, I knew I was lost and hell bound.

I struggled with so many sins in my life, but the one that was the closest to me was the one that others didn't know about. Right from childhood, I practiced the sin of lesbianism and was so discreet about it that until I spoke about it, no one knew of it except the people that were involved in it with me.

It is a shame that even as a church going Christian, I couldn't get free from this evil. Crying, repenting and repeating the process all over again was the norm. I knew I was dishonoring God, and deep inside, I hated myself each time, but was so powerless.

This struggle continued throughout my teenage years and beyond. It became very clear to me that there were spiritual forces assigned to me to ensure I never stopped, and these forces I soon realize were beyond me.

I lived in guilt day after day. I had no peace and my happiness was restricted to the moment I committed sin. I was totally enslaved with wild evil passions!

On the 3rd day of January 1987, my older sister invited me to a Christian crusade where the ministering pastor gave a message that was directed to me. It was like he knew everything about my personal life. I was stunned! The message was so pointed and crushing, I couldn't stop crying. Even though there were multitudes in tune with the message of the several thousands present, I felt singled out by that message.

When the altar call was made, I gave my life to Christ. The relief I felt immediately ... cannot be described in words. I felt transported to another world. I was light, and all the weight from the guilt of sin I had carried around suddenly fell! The Lord picked me up from my filth, washed my sins away as He promises in the Bible He will do, and gave me unspeakable joy and a new life.

Occasionally, the demons of lust would send temptations through old sin partners, but through the help of the holy spirit, I was able to overcome. I am so thankful to God that until now (2011), His grace has kept me free and sustained me.

If you find yourself in this situation and are beginning to believe that you were born to be a lesbian (or gay) or you can't be free, I want to tell you that Jesus is still in the business of setting people free. He can help you just like He did to me. To God be the glory!
