BRIEF MEMORIES FROM THE GJERTSON FAMILY
By: Evelyn Gjertson
The Gjertson family lived at Blue Mountain Ranger Station, just out of Bates, for five years, about 1957-1962. We all enjoyed our stay in the community very much.
Joe passed away June 15, 1989. Linda, who was 46 at the time, has two sons, Todd and Brian. She works for the Herald News as a computer data secretary. Julie, who is 39, (at the time of this writing) has a son and daughter, Stewart and Kristin. She works for the Herald News as Office Manager, Myrtle Point, Oregon. Her husband Robert, is Assistant Ranger for the U.S. Forest Service.
I retired from teaching at 65 and now volunteer for Cancer Care and at the Library. We all love to play tennis, ski and watch football, swimming, baseball ... I do miss Joe so much. He was a wonderful man as husband, father and friend!
